The Arizona Cardinals placed tight end Travis Vokolek on injured reserve with a neck issue suffered in Sunday’s 31-27 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
He will not return this season, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon.
Taking his place on the 53-man roster is tight end Josiah Deguara from the practice squad, whom Arizona signed on Wednesday. The tight end has appeared in one game for the Cardinals (Week 2).
Deguara came to town this offseason after spending time with the Jacksonville Jaguars a year prior, where he reeled in three catches for 14 yards in 15 games played.

The tight end entered the league with the Green Bay Packers as a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
He appeared in 50 games (10 starts), recording 47 catches for 436 yards and two touchdowns.
Arizona’s tight end depth continues to be tested.
In addition to Vokolek, the Cardinals also lost TE Tip Reiman for the year with an ankle injury.
The lack of depth, especially in the blocking TE department, has forced offensive coordinator Drew Petzing to get creative with Kelvin Beachum and/or Jon Gaines II serving as extra blockers at times.
Cardinals add two practice squad players
In addition to Deguara moving up to the active roster and Vokolek heading to IR, the Cardinals signed tight end Pharaoh Brown and wide receiver Bryson Green to the practice squad on Wednesday.
Green spent the offseason with the Cardinals as an undrafted rookie and was released during initial 53-man roster cuts.
Brown has appeared in 87 games (54 starts) after entering the league with the then-Oakland Raiders as an undrafted rookie.
The wide receiver has spent time with Oakland (2017), Cleveland (2019, 2022), Houston (2020-22), New England (2023) and Seattle (2024).
In his lone season with the Seahawks, he caught eight balls for 65 yards.
