Alexis Neiers — shot to infamy in the early 2000s as the unofficial leader of the "Bling Ring," a group of wealthy L.A. teens who broke into high-profile celebs' homes and robbed them. (Victims included Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, and more.) The '00s scandal was such tabloid fodder that The Bling Ring became a 2013 film starring Emma Watson, whoportrayed the fictionalized, composite version of Haines in the film.
Now, more than 10 years after the movie — after 15 years after her stint in jail for first-degree burglary in regard to Bloom's home — Neiers is once again making headlines ... only this time, it's for a joyous occasion: she's engaged!
Taking to Instagram on Monday, October 14, Neiers — who was previously married to Evan Haines — shared a series of engagement photos with her partner, Chris Howard. (Both Neiers and Howard are outspoken about their own sobriety and work in mental health and wellness fields.)
"Uh huh honey ?," the former Pretty Wild star captioned the four professionally-shot pictures from their engagement, which include the happy couple grinning from ear-to-ear
Neiers' followers couldn't be more thrilled for her engagement.
"That ring!!!! ? congratulations!," one person wrote.
"Your light shines so bright sis❤️," another chimed in.
"YAYYYYYY!!!!" shouted a third in all-caps. "Congratulations!!!! Stunning."
Fans iniitally got to know Neiers on E!'s reality show, Pretty Wild, in which she makes a tearful, now-viral phone call to request major changes in her Vanity Fair profile. (If you don't remember her infamous "This is Alexis Neiers calling" catchphrase, let the video below jog your memory.)
What Has Alexis Neiers Said About Her Involvement in the Bling Ring?
In 2022, after years of denial, Neiers got real and admitted her part in the string of celebrity-centered burglaries.
“A couple of years ago, I just wished that my name and the Bling Ring would no longer be associated because I felt like I had done so much more with my life,” she told the Los Angeles Times in 2022. “And the longer I’ve been sober, I’ve realized that we don’t heal by pushing away our recovery or our story, we recover by owning all of the messy, complex parts that often make it really magical."
Neiers further claimed that child sexual abuse caused her to abuse drugs, like heroin, in her teen years.
In the L.A. Times interview, she also shared that another one of her Bling Ring co-conspirators, Nick Prugo, would be stunned if he knew she was divulging all of this information in the Netflix douseries The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist, in which he also participated.
“I think Nick probably expected me to come in and to deny everything like I had been for 10 years. I don’t think it was me going, ‘Yeah, I robbed Orlando Bloom’s house.’ He might actually be shocked by me owning all of that, saying what I stole and taking responsibility,” she revealed.
In 2010, Neiers "entered a no-contest plea to one count of residential burglary and accepted some county jail time in order to avoid trial and a possible lengthy state prison sentence," her lawyer said at the time, per NBC Los Angeles. Additionally, she had to pay Bloom restitution and received three years of probation.
