The Blackhawks will look to put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season in St. Louis tonight. We’ll see if they roll with seven defensemen again tonight or if somehow a 12th forward — maybe even one named Lukas Reichel — draws into the lineup against the Blues.
Landon Slaggert skated before practice on Tuesday morning in Chicago. Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill said he’s still out for tonight’s game in St. Louis but is possible for Friday night when the Canucks are in town. When he’s ready to return we’ll likely have to have a more substantial conversation about which forwards play. There’s a chance Ryan Greene goes back to Rockford, but I have liked his play for the most part. He’s defensively responsible and doesn’t make a lot of big mistakes.

— Bleacher Nation Blackhawks (@BN_Blackhawks) October 14, 2025 Oliver Moore spoke with the media in Rockford on Tuesday morning. Apparently his Gopher version of a Spidey sense told him Sam Rinzel was going to hit the back of the net on Saturday. Absolutely love to see it!Oliver Moore says he predicted Sam Rinzel’s first NHL goal on Saturday morning.“I just had a feeling. I told my girlfriend: He’s scoring today.” pic.twitter.com/WKqhEg7ap1
— Dana Grey (@DanaGrey0) October 14, 2025 The IceHogs announced Nolan Allan and Kevin Korchinski have been placed on concussion protocol. Good read here from Ben Pope at the Chicago Sun-Times. He spoke with Danny Wirtz about the rebuild. For those who still question/complain about the Blackhawks spending what it takes to land big ticket free agents (even if there aren’t any on the open market for general manager Kyle Davidson to recruit), here’s a quote from Wirtz that got my attention:‘‘We will spend appropriately — where it makes sense — for us to go and win Stanley Cups,’’ Wirtz said. ‘‘That’s been a hallmark of us during the salary-cap era. We’re able to [plan ahead for] it now, and we’re fortunate we also have a really good business foundation here in Chicago to support that investment.
‘‘From a cap-management standpoint . . . it gives Kyle a little [more] visibility as to how he needs to plan and grow, knowing there’s going to be growing salaries across the board as he goes forward. He’s making very smart, deliberate choices.’’
NEW: I talked to Blackhawks chairman Danny Wirtz about the team's rebuild, financial outlook, TV deal and more. He's "very pleased" with Kyle Davidson's performance as GM: "Everything Kyle set out to do, he continues to deliver on."Full story: t.co/ocAPPDcxUc

— TSN (@TSN_Sports) October 14, 2025 On Tuesday morning, the Habs announced multi-year contract extensions with hockey executive Jeff Gorton and general manager Kent Hughes; Gorton became President of Hockey Operations. Hey, the New York Rangers suck apparently.History at Madison Square Garden. Rangers have surpassed the 2001-02 Panthers (155:17) for the longest season-opening streak without a goal on home ice among teams that still exist. The now-defunct Pittsburgh Pirates are the only team with a longer streak (187:19 in 1928).
