Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Savannah Bowers from South Windsor, Connecticut, has announced her intention to swim and study at The Ohio State University in the class of 2031. She wrote on social media:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The Ohio State University! I would like to thank my family and friends for their unconditional love and support, and my coaches for constantly pushing me to be my best. A special thanks to Coach Bill Dorenkott, Coach Ignacio Gayo, and the rest of the OSU coaching staff for giving me this incredible opportunity! I can’t wait to be a part of this amazing team! GO BUCKS!!!! ”

Bowers is a junior at Miss Porter’s School; she swims year-round with West Hartford Aquatic Team. One of the top breast/IM specialists in the cohort, she also boasts solid sprint free times and, as such, made our “Honorable Mention” section in the Way Too Early list of top girls’ swimming recruits in the high school class of 2027.

In high school swimming, Bowers is a two-time New England Private Schools Athletic Conference Division II champion in the 200 IM and 100 free. As a freshman, she won the respective events with 2:04.64 and 51.71; a year later, she had improved to 1:59.96 and 49.46.

Three weeks after high school championships, she logged 3 more best times (100 breast, 50 free, and 200 free) at Ithaca Sectionals. She was runner-up in the 100 breast (1:02.54), 3rd in the 50 free (23.13) and 200 IM (2:02.57), and 7th in the 100 free (50.27) and 200 free (1:48.44).

Bowers has had a strong improvement curve over the last year. In long-course season alone, she dropped 3.6 seconds in the 100 breast, 2.9 seconds in the 200 IM, and 1.5 seconds in the 200 free.

Her best 100 free time would have scored in the ‘C’ final at last year’s Big Ten Conference Championship, and she would have been just outside the scoring range in the 200 IM (it took 1:59.66), 50 free (22.55), 200 free (1:47.11), and 100 breast (1:01.68).

    Best SCY times:

    200 IM – 1:59.96 100 free – 49.46 50 free – 23.13 200 free – 1:48.44 100 breast – 1:02.54

Bowers will join Jenna Frost, Lily Andruss, Shannon Conway, and Paige Burkey in the Ohio State Class of 2031.
