ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Susan B. Anthony House has added a new piece to its collection, with a freestanding portrait of Susan B. Anthony donated by LeChase Construction.
The portrait, created by local artist Jacquie Germanow, stands about four feet tall. It features Anthony’s iconic dress, a ballot in her hand, and a symbolic double exposure of a woman walking down a dark tunnel.
“You know, forget everybody else, I wanted Susan to think: ‘Huh, that’s pretty cool.’ And it’s funny, because she’s holding a ballot and it says ‘Vote for Women, Guilty, 1872.’ I think she would have loved that,” said Germanow.
Germanow said she hopes visitors to the museum will “take a selfie with Susan B.”
The Susan B. Anthony Museum is open every day except Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
