A woman was arrested for attempted murder after witnesses say she stabbed another woman in the neck and back following a separate fight in east Greeley last week.
Tomey Alvarado, 41, was arrested Monday afternoon on the attempted murder charge, as well as a first-degree assault charge, according to an affidavit for her arrest.
Just before 3 a.m. Friday, police received a report that someone had been shot behind a house in the 500 block of 5th Street and was being taken to North Colorado Medical Center.
When officers arrived at NCMC, they found a woman being treated for stab wounds to her neck and back, the affidavit states.
The woman said a fight broke out in the alley behind the house and she and several others stepped in to break it up, according to the affidavit.
When she did, a woman, later identified by witnesses as Alvarado, came out of the house holding an eight-inch kitchen knife and threatening to stab someone. The woman ran to the alley and began stabbing the victim in the neck and back, the affidavit states.
Alvarado is being held at the Weld County Jail on a $500,000 cash only bond. The Weld County District Attorney’s Office has until 3:30 p.m. Thursday to file charges in the incident.
