The Denver Broncos have placed two players on injured reserve, making way for two players to move onto their active roster ahead of their Week 7 matchup against the New York Giants.
After losing Ben Powers for a couple of months after he suffered a biceps injury against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5, his fill-in, Matt Peart, is headed to injured reserve with a knee injury as first reported by Mike Klis.
Peart suffered the injury in the Broncos’ Week 6 win in London against the New York Jets, but still played every offensive snap. He did struggle with three penalties, which prompted questions about his status for this week’s game, but the Broncos will now have to figure out what their game plan will be against a very tough Giants’ defensive front.
With Peart landing on IR, veteran Calvin Throckmorton moves off the practice squad to the active roster and could end up starting on Sunday vs. the Giants.
Peart wasn’t the only player landing on injured reserve on Tuesday. Linebacker Garret Wallow, who has been a nice addition to Denver’s special teams unit, is also heading to IR after suffering a hamstring injury against the Jets.
That opened up a spot on the roster for J.T. Gray, who the Broncos signed off of the Baltimore Ravens practice squad.
It will be interesting to see how the Broncos approach this week at guard as they step foot back onto the practice field on Wednesday afternoon.
