Iconic Sibling Actresses, 66 and 57, Make Rare Red Carpet Appearance For True-Crime Series

It was a rare sister act on Monday night when Patricia Arquette, 57, and Rosanna Arquette, 66 stepped out together for the Los Angeles premiere of Murdaugh: Death in the Family, Hulu’s upcoming true-crime miniseries inspired by the infamous Murdaugh murders.

The two actresses — part of Hollywood’s multigenerational Arquette family — rarely appear together in public. In fact, this marks only the fourth time they’ve been photographed side-by-side in the past four years, making the red-carpet reunion a treat for fans of the famous siblings.

Rosanna, 66, is the eldest of the five Arquette siblings, followed by Richmond Arquette, 62, Patricia, 57, David Arquette, 54, and the late Alexis Arquette, who passed away in 2016 at age 47. The tight-knit acting family has each carved out unique careers in film and television, from Rosanna’s breakout in Desperately Seeking Susan to Patricia’s Oscar-winning turn in Boyhood and Emmy-nominated turn in Severance.

Patricia stars in Hulu’s upcoming limited series Murdaugh: Death in the Family alongside Jason Clarke, J. Smith-Cameron, Johnny Berchtold, and Brittany Snow. The show dramatizes one of the most shocking modern crime sagas in American history — the downfall of South Carolina attorney Richard “Alex” Murdaugh, portrayed by Clarke.

Arquette plays Maggie Murdaugh, whose 2021 murder at the hands of her husband rocked the Lowcountry community and exposed decades of fraud, theft, and corruption. The miniseries is based on The Murdaugh Murders podcast by investigative journalist Mandy Matney, played in the series by Snow.

Of the series, Matney said in a statement to The Hampton County Guardian (via the Greenville News), "From day one of reporting on the Murdaugh family in 2019, Liz Farrell and I always said this story was stranger than fiction and ‘made for Hollywood.’ Almost seven years later, it’s surreal to see that stranger-than-fiction story — that kept getting weirder — come to life on screen in such a gripping, artful masterpiece.”

She added, "Murdaugh: Death in the Family shines a bright light on the world that created the monster of Alex Murdaugh — and what it took to stop him. I think that’s a story people need to hear in today’s political climate — that powerful systems can still be dismantled with grit and integrity.”

    The Arquette Legacy Continues

While the Arquette siblings have each pursued different paths in Hollywood, they’ve long shared a spirit of artistic independence and social consciousness — qualities that shine through in Patricia’s latest role. Monday’s joint appearance served as a reminder of the family’s enduring influence in Hollywood, spanning decades of film, television, and advocacy work.

Murdaugh: Death in the Family premieres on Wednesday, October 15 on Hulu.
