A MUM has been left stunned after spotting an “explicit” word on a Halloween sign for sale in Lidl.
The huge design flaw on the colourful £7.99 kids’ gift apparently turns the innocuous phrase “trick or treat” into something much less child friendly.
One shopper came across the neon sign for sale in Lidl while out shopping for family gifts in Norwich ahead of Halloween.
In a video posted to Facebook, she explained how she did a double take when she noticed the neon signs for sale.
Introducing her post, she wrote: “Lidl’s Halloween decor is getting a little too real this year.
“When you spot a ‘Trick or Treat’ neon sign at Lidl, but your brain immediately goes to ‘F*** or Treat.’
“Guess some Halloween spirits are more explicit than others! Who else sees it?”
She then picked up the sign and said the more she looked at it, the more surprised she was at what she saw.
She added: “I’m just in Lidl looking for Halloween decorations as we’re going away in the caravan and, look, a sign that says… ‘f*** or treat’.
“And it’s neon … and lights up. Even better! I think it’s meant to say trick or treat.
“Maybe it’s for the red light district. They’ve even got a yellow one!”
received laughing emojis, likes and shares, as well as comments from her followers.
One person said: “Buy it now lol.”
‘I looked twice’
In another post on the popular Facebook site Supermarket Deals and Offers, another person posted the sign and received dozens of comments.
Lidl shoppers have been left horrified by £7.99 Halloween buy that looks like it says something VERY different – so what do you see?FacebookOne posted: “Aww, I read that a bit too quick. I did a double take then F*** or treat. Who tf designs these things.”
Another wrote: “Don’t think [there will be] many of those lights in windows.
“Must say I looked twice when saw it in the shop and I have new glasses.”
A third person said: “Crikey! I thought that too.”
A spokeswoman for Lidl told the Eastern Daily Press: “At Lidl GB, it is never our intention to upset or offend.
“This product is part of a range that has always been well received by customers.
“However, we are sorry for any offence caused.”
The Sun has approached Lidl for comment.
Tacky Halloween decorations
Interiors expert Miriam Gomez revealed the seven mistakes that are making your Halloween decorations look tacky.
Too much orange and black can make your home look like a Halloween shop. Plastic tombstones come across as cartoonish rather than spooky. Too many lights can be overwhelming, mix in some candles instead. Fake materials and too much glitter can make your house look cheap. Loud repetitive sounds can be incredibly annoying for you and your neighbours. Inflatable garden decor look tacky and can float into your neighbour’s garden. Not embracing classic elements such as carved pumpkins.Hence then, the article about stunned mum spots explicit word on lidl halloween sign due to huge design flaw was published today ( ) and is available on The Sun ( Middle East ) The editorial team at PressBee has edited and verified it, and it may have been modified, fully republished, or quoted.
