Empire KC Swim Club’s Avery Frick has verbally committed to the University of Kansas women’s team for the Fall of 2027.
I’m beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for the University of Kansas! I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join such an amazing program, surrounded by inspiring coaches and teammates who share my passion for the sport. From the moment I connected with the KU swim family, I knew it was something special. Swimming has been a huge part of my life — it’s where I’ve found joy, strength, and lifelong friendships. I can’t wait to continue growing as an athlete and person at KU. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way — family, friends, and coaches — your belief in me means the world. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
The Lee’s Summit, Mo., native most recently competed at the USA Swimming Futures Championships in Madison, where she finished with three new long course best times. Her top finish came in the 50 free, where she clocked 26.74 to finish 18th overall. She also added another final in the 50 fly, clocking 28.42 for 26th. Her final best time came in the 100 free, touching 50th in 59.52.
As a sophomore at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School, Frick swam to a pair of runner-up finishes at the MSHSAA Girls Class 1 State Championship. She claimed silver in both the 50 free (23.81) and 100 free (52.50).
One of her more notable short course showings was at the Speedo Sectionals in Columbia this past March. There, she set lifetime bests in the 50 free (23.76), 100 free (51.79), 200 free (1:57.55), 50 fly (26.05), and 100 fly (59.50).

Frick has a great base for a high school junior. With two years until she makes her collegiate debut, there are plenty of opportunities to establish even faster times that can score within the Big 12.
Frick is the first publicized recruit in the Kansas women’s recruiting class of 2027.
