Arkansas’ staff lost connection with their headsets to begin the second half which resulted in Tennessee being forced to go without their devices until the problem was resolved.
Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel weighed in on the situation during his Monday press conference. Heupel is proud of his staff’s resolve and compared the archaic set up to middle school ball.
“I thought we handled it well,” Heupel said. “Different defensive structure, personnel from what we were seeing in the first half… Unique situation. Felt like junior high football for a little bit.”
Tennessee remained posed and outscored Arkansas 10-0 in the third quarter en route to its fifth victory of the season. Peyton Lewis rushed for both of Tennessee’s touchdowns in the second half.
Next up for No. 12 Tennessee is a primetime showdown at No. 6 Alabama on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and the game will be on ABC.
