CAIRO, Oct 12 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed the progress of a national project to upgrade the integrated information system of the General Directorate of Passports, Immigration and Nationality, including improvements in border control and the implementation of electronic visa services.
The meeting, held at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh al-Hefny, and Deputy Minister for Digital Infrastructure Raafat Hindy.
For his part, the ICT minister said that the digital visa system aims to replace paper forms with a QR-based platform, reduce congestion at airports, and improve services at ports of entry.
He added that it also supports faster data sharing with decision-makers, enhances security, and contributes to improving Egypt’s competitiveness as a tourist destination.
It is noteworthy that the project covers 42 air, land, and sea entry points, 40 residency offices, and 165 embassies and consulates. (MENA)
