In head coach Kalen DeBoer’s second season, Alabama has raced off to a 5-1 start, including three straight wins over ranked opponents.
The amount of success on the recruiting trail has been no different. Alabama currently boasts the seventh overall class and is tied with Oregon for the most five-star commits in the country.
In the past week, multiple commits have shut down their recruitment, locked in for what general manager Courtney Morgan and DeBoer are building in Tuscaloosa.
Ezavier Crowell
Arguably the best running back in the class, commit Ezavier Crowell, shut down his recruitment last Sunday.
On Thursday the Jackson, Alabama, native rushed for four touchdowns on seven carries against Orange Beach, all in the first half. One of his four touchdowns sent shockwaves through social media as Crowell bruised and buried multiple defenders on his way to the end zone.
Cederian Morgan
Another in-state standout, five-star wideout Cederian Morgan also shut down his recruitment.
Morgan had a simple message for the fans: “Bama I’m coming.”
Morgan is a major long-term add for an Alabama receiver room that includes freshmen Lotzeir Brooks and Derek Meadows, who have already seen significant playing time.
Jett Thomalla
Once an Iowa State commit, four-star quarterback Jett Thomalla closed his recruitment and will stick with Alabama.
The Nebraskan standout has been electric through six games this season for Millard South, totaling nearly 1,800 yards and 33 total touchdowns to just one interception.
“No one does it like Bama, especially at the QB spot,” Thomalla said.
Tayden Kaawa
Maybe the most under-the-radar commit in Alabama’s 2026 class shut down his recruitment on the fifth. Quarterback Tayden Kaawa looks to become the first Hawaii native to start for Alabama since Tua Tagovailoa.
“It’s the best college for football,” Kaawa said. “Going out there, I’m gonna try to represent where I’m from, my family.”
Despite being just a three-star prospect, Kaawa has the intangibles, standing a tall 6-foot-4 and weighing 235 pounds. He adds to a strong Crimson Tide quarterback room.
Commitments
Class of 2026 offensive tackle Jared Doughty committed to Alabama last week. He stands at 6-foot-6 and 305 pounds and could be an instant impact with Kadyn Proctor and Parker Brailsford off to the NFL.
The Atlanta, Georgia, product committed to the Crimson Tide over Georgia, Ohio State, Florida State and Auburn. He also shut down his recruitment this week.
In the past week, Alabama also landed a couple commits to start its 2027 class in Jatori Williams and Nash Johnson.
Williams, a 6-foot-4, 330 pound offensive lineman, marks another in-state addition in a loaded offensive line class.
Johnson, a three-star prospect and top 50 cornerback in the class, marks another strong addition for DeBoer’s second class. Johnson committed to Alabama over the likes of Georgia, Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
Johnson looks to be another great find at defensive back, as the current staff has already added Dijon Lee and Ivan Taylor in 2025.
