Sixth-ranked Alabama is 5-1 and on a 5-game winning streak after losing its season opener at Florida State, and ESPN pundit Paul Finebaum wasn’t shy about his opinion on the Crimson Tide’s post-Tallahassee play Sunday during his weekly appearance on The Matt Barrie Show.
“It doesn’t matter what happened in Week 1 now, because we know what has happened since then,” Finebaum said. “Alabama is really good. In college football right now are 2 teams at the highest level, and then Alabama is at that next rung along with Indiana and a number of other schools … Ole Miss as well.”
Alabama has excelled in the past month, winning road games at No. 5 Georgia and No. 14 Missouri and downing No. 16 Vanderbilt at home. And while the remaining schedule includes Top-15 tests against No. 11 Tennessee (7:30 pm ET Saturday, ABC), No. 10 LSU and No. 14 Oklahoma, all of those games will be played in Tuscaloosa.
“This schedule is getting better for them,” Finebaum said about the Tide’s remaining slate. “It is not a cinch, but they are looking very much like a playoff team – and, in my mind, a potential championship team.”
