How Bruce Springsteen Helped Jeremy Allen White Feel Like a Star on Biopic Film Set

Long-awaited Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere is less than two weeks from hitting theaters on Oct. 24, 2025, and the film's star, Jeremy Allen White, is opening up about how The Boss himself made sure the actor was as successful as possible on set.

"Bruce was there, like he was a lot of days," he told CBS News in an Oct. 12 interview about one particular scene shot at The Stony Pony music club in Asbury Park. White was recreating one of the early performances in Springsteen's career, and he was performing live for the crowd in the scene. Springsteen made sure it went as smoothly as possible.

"He came out, and he kind of introduced me to the audience, so he gave them to me all warmed up," White shared. "They made me feel like a star for three-and-a-half minutes. And then the first A.D. would say 'Cut,' and they would go silent. And I remembered, I am not Bruce Springsteen, I am just an actor!"

When asked if that, or any other moment, made him confident he was crushing it and really doing the musc legend justice, he said, "No, I don't think so."

"There were moments where I found confidence, but I always wanted more, I wanted more time, I wanted to go deeper," he explained. Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere follows the making of the performer's 1982 album Nebraska, and all the trials and tribulations that came with it. Some of those moments resonated greatly for White.

In fact, he did get to go deeper with the "Born in the USA" singer, with the two even connecting about mental health struggles.

To prepare for the role, White read Springsteen's 2016 autobiography, Born to Run. One particular passage stood out to him, where The Boss describes a breakdown he experienced at a Texas county fair:

"I've just pulled a perfect swan dive into my abyss; my stomach is on rinse cycle, and I'm going down, down, down. I just feel a need to get rooted somewhere, before I drift into ether."

"I asked him, what's that panic about? You know, what is that fear inside of you?" White recalled. "And he said, 'I had this moment where I felt like an outsider and observer in my own life.'"

White admits he's felt the same himself. "That was very familiar to me," he admitted. "I remember when I found acting, there was a lot of like, I think like, chaos and confusion, just a lot going on. I couldn't focus on myself. And I found acting, and I found some peace and I found some focus."
