Yellowjackets fans are in mourning after it was announced that the series, which was recently renewed for a fourth season, would be coming to an end.
The show's official social media accounts broke the news, posting a teaser video featuring a leather jacket with the soccer team's patch affixed to it going up in flames and ending with a human skull visible in the fire.
"After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season," the caption, signed off by creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, read. "We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it’s our belief that our job — our responsibility — is to listen."
The couple went on to call it a "profoundly meaningful experience" and "true honor" to have brought to life the "emotional, wild, and deeply human story," sending kudos to the cast, crew, and writers of the beloved series.
