Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers earned a 34-31 victory against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday night. A huge reason why was because of the big game from DeSean Bishop. The sophomore running back rushed for a career-high 146 yards and one touchdowns.
However, he did give the Volunteers a scare when he had to leave the game after a 26-yard rush in the third quarter. He wasn’t able to come back into the game, but Heupel said that he doesn’t expect the injury to be a long-term issue.
“Don’t think it’s a long-term deal at all,” Heupel said after the game.

Bishop starting to play much better is going to make the Volunteers offense even tougher to stop. Last year, the Volunteers averaged 225.8 yards per game on the ground. This year, they haven’t been as effective, as they are averaging 199.2 yards. If they can get closer to those numbers, Joey Aguilar could have even more opportunities to attack deep off the play-action fake.
The Volunteers will need to have Bishop healthy and ready go to next weekend when they travel to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama.
