Letter: Trump doesn’t deserve a Nobel Peace Prize, yet

Donald Trump did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize, and rightfully so.

Though he constantly brags about world conflicts he says he has stopped, he has sown rancor, discord, tumult and chaos in his own country.

Trump renamed the Department of Defense the Department of War.  He has bombed Iran, and instructed the U.S. Navy to bomb ships on the high seas without presenting much evidence that they were involved in illegal activity. Those actions do not indicate that Trump is a man of peace.

It will take time to see if Trump’s actions in Gaza bring lasting peace.  His campaign promises about being able to stop the Ukraine war have just been so many words.

Most of all, he needs to bring peace with democracy in the United States, despite his authoritarian, dictatorial and revengeful tendencies. Until that happens, whatever his foreign activities might be, he should not receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
