Along with a photo of Keaton, Carlisle (who posts under the IG handle travels_with_mrs_mason) wrote in the caption, “I cant ??? she was such a talent and a big part of my career. She directed two videos of mine - Heaven Is A Place on Earth and the video for I Get Weak. She was kind and eccentric and I was blessed to know her. This is such a big loss… ??? RIP Diane you will be missed….”

Those two songs happen to be two of Carlisle’s biggest solo hits and they’re both featured on Carlisle’s second solo album, 1987’s Heaven on Earth. (Coincidentally, Keaton directed and edited her first feature film, Heaven, that same year.) “Heaven Is a Place on Earth” topped the Billboard Hot 100 and is Carlisle’s best-known solo hit. “I Get Weak” did nearly as well, peaking at No. 2 on the Hot 100.
The video for “Heaven Is a Place on Earth” features an appearance by Carlisle’s longtime husband Morgan Mason. Parts of the clip were shot at Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park in Valencia, Calif., not too far from Thousand Oaks, the community where Carlisle grew up.
“I Get Weak” features model-actor Tony Ward, who later appeared in Madonna’s video for “Justify My Love.” The clip is shot in color and black-and-white.
Some of Carlisle’s fans were shocked to learn that the late acclaimed actress had a connection to the singer and shared their thoughts in the comments of her Instagram post.
“Wow! I had no idea that she directed your videos,” one wrote.
“Oh so sad? what amazing memories for you B??,” added another.
“I’m so shocked about this. She was so fun in interviews and I loved her book. Great actress. So sad for her children. Sorry for you too. ??,” another fan posted.
Aside from the music videos for Carlisle, Keaton also directed two TV movies starring Patricia Arquette and episodes of the TV shows China Beach andTwin Peaks.
