In the wake of the news, Martin took to Instagram with a light-hearted tribute to his former onscreen wife. Martin posted a screenshot from a transcript of an Interview magazine article with Keaton and their friend and fellow Father of the Bride star Martin Short.
Short asked, "Who's sexier, me or Steve Martin?" to which Keaton declared, "I mean, you're both idiots."
In the caption, Martin wrote, "Don’t know who first posted this, but it sums up our delightful relationship with Diane," alongside the song "The Way You Look Tonight" by Steve Tyrell.
