As fans eagerly wait for the release of Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, actress Gaby Hoffman revealed just how involved Bruce Springsteen was in making the biopic about his life.
While speaking to People at the film's premiere at the New York Film Festival, Hoffman, 43, said that Springsteen, 76, was present during the production process and was "giving his blessings and expressing his gratitude."
Hoffman went on to share that the iconic singer is "very, lovely incredible man," adding that he "was hands off" throughout the entire process.
Jeremy Allen White portrays Springsteen in the movie, while Hoffman appears as the rockstar's late mother, Adele Springsteen.
While speaking to the outlet, Hoffman opened up about the difficult aspects of playing Springsteen's beloved mother during a tumultuous time in their family's life depicted in the film.
"I don’t exactly understand how we do what we do as actors, it’s a mystery," she shared. "But I’m offered a lot of tools."

Hoffman continued, "I had an incredible set to live inside of, all of the hair and makeup, all of the scaffolding that us actors have, and [director and writer Scott Cooper]'s beautiful screenplay and his loving hands holding me … you do as much as you can."
In addition to taking notes from the script script, Hoffman got into character by reading about Springsteen's history and looking at photographs of Adele, who died in January 2024 at the age of 98.
"But really it’s about being able to be in the moment, and drop into your heart and soul and find the presence of the moment," she said. "Whether you’re playing Bruce Springsteen’s mom or a fictional character that nobody’s ever known, it’s the same process for me."
According to the film's synopsis, Deliver Me from Nowhere "chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 Nebraska album when he was a young musician on the cusp of global superstardom, struggling to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past."
Springsteen's mom will likely be an important part of the story, as the "Born in the U.S.A." singer has always been open about their close bond.
In February 2024, he took to Instagram to announce her death with a sweet video of them dancing outside. "I remember in the morning mom hearing your alarm clock ring. I’d lie in bed and listen to you getting ready for work, the sound of your makeup case on the sink. And the ladies at the office all lipstick, perfume and rustling skirts, how proud and happy you always looked walking home from work," he wrote in the caption.
"It ain’t no phone call on Sunday, flowers or a Mother’s Day card. It ain’t no house on the hill with a garden and a nice little yard. I’ve got my hot rod down on Bond Street I’m older but you’ll know me in a glance," Springsteen added. "We’ll find us a Little rock ‘n roll bar and we’ll go out and dance."
