The most frequent Rose Bowl matchup will be played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the first time since 1957, on Saturday when USC faces Michigan.

The game will be the first for the Trojans (4-1, 2-1 in Big Ten Conference play) since their 34-32 loss at Illinois Sept. 27 that knocked them from 21st in The Associated Press poll to out of the top 25.

The Wolverines (4-1, 2-0) are ranked 15th, one spot below their season-best ranking, which came in both the preseason poll and the poll released Sept. 2, four days before their 24-13 loss to Oklahoma.

USC is second in the Football Bowl Subdivision in total offense, averaging 565 yards per game and third in scoring, averaging 48.4 points per game.

Trojan quarterback Jayden Maiava is second in passing yards per game, 317.4, and first in yards per pass attempt, 11.42, and yards per completion, 16.19.

USC receiver Makai Lemon is second in receiving yards, 589, receiving yards per game, 117.8, and all-purpose yards per game, 153.8.

Michigan running back Justice Haynes is third among FBS rushers, averaging 130.8 yards per game. The Wolverines are seventh in rushing defense, allowing 77 yards per game, eighth in turnover margin at plus-1.2 and 13th in rushing offense, averaging 237.8 yards per game.

Oddsmakers have made the Trojans a 2 1/2-point favorite. ESPN Analytics’ matchup predictor gives USC a 68.2% chance of winning, Michigan a 31.8% chance.

The Trojans lost to the Wolverines, 27-24, last season with Kalel Mullings, now on the Tennessee Titans’ reserve/injured list, running 1 yard for the winning touchdown with 37 seconds to play.

    USC leads the series, 6-5.

The Trojans and Michigan have met eight times in the Rose Bowl — most recently on Jan. 1, 2007 — with USC winning six of the eight games.

The Wolverines were 16-6 winners in the only previous meeting between the teams at the Coliseum on Sept. 28, 1957. The Trojans were 1-9 in 1957, setting the school record for losses which still stands. Future Pro Football Hall of Fame member Al Davis was in the first of his three season’s as USC’s offensive line coach.

USC announced on Sept. 25 that the game was sold out. Resale tickets are available at USC’s official ticket marketplace, seatgeek.com/usc-trojans- football-tickets/ncaa-football/2025-10-11-4-30-pm/17307368

The teams are not scheduled to meet again until 2028 and won’t face each other at the Coliseum again until 2029 at the earliest.

The 4:30 p.m. game will be televised by NBC.
