In addition to being the fastest October swim in history, to put in perspective how fast it is throughout the season in recent years is the 2022-2023 season. The fastest performance that season was a 1:41.63 that Virginia’s Alex Walsh swam at the 2023 ACC Championships.
Moesch’s swim marked a best time as well as she improved from her 1:42.39 that she swam for a 5th place finish at the 2025 NCAA Championships. Her time today would have moved her up one spot into 4th. The women’s 200 free ‘A’ final graduated three of its swimmers including NCAA Champion Anna Peplowski, so Moesch’s swim today makes her a solid early-season favorite in the NCAA title hunt.
The sophomore Moesch helped Virginia to its 5th straight NCAA team title this past season. In addition to her 5th place finish in the 200 free, she also was 4th in the 100 free, and swam on four of the team’s relays including their winning 200 free, 400 free, and 400 medley relays. She was the #7 ranked recruit in the girls high school class of 2024 and at the time had a lifetime best of a 1:44.10 in the 200 free.
She represented the US this past summer at the 2025 World Championships as a relay only swimmer, swimming on prelims of the women’s 4×100 free and 4×200 free relays. Despite being 14th in the 200 free at US Summer Nationals, Moesch stepped up and delivered a 1:57.75 split for the US women to give them the top seed heading into finals where they ultimately won silver.
