AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Williamson County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday said an investigation into a massage parlor led to the seizure of $41,000.
WCSO and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) said the joint investigation was started after receiving multiple reports of suspicious activity and potential violations of state licensing regulations.
Deputies seized the cash during an October 1 operation at Talent Spa, located at 1803 N May's Street in Round Rock, according to a WCSO press release.
Investigators said they believe the cash was gained through illegal activity, and additional evidence was being reviewed for potential charges related to unlicensed activity and human trafficking.
“This is a clear example of the importance of interagency cooperation in dismantling organized crime,” said Sheriff Lindemann. “We are committed to protecting the safety and integrity of our communities, and we will continue to target those who exploit others for profit.”
According to the press release, TDLR is conducting an administrative investigation and will determine any regulatory actions regarding the business' license.
The investigation into this massage parlor comes less than one month after another massage parlor in Round Rock was closed down by the TDLR for 12 months after it was suspected of human trafficking.
