Ozzy Osbourne considered ditching his signature rock star look after retiring from the stage in early July. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the late singer’s son, Jack Osbourne, revealed that his famous father told him he wanted to make a major change to his appearance after the Back to the Beginning show, which marked his farewell from the concert stage.
In the interview, Jack confirmed that his father was ready for a “quiet” life after stepping down from performing. “One hundred percent,” Jack told the outlet. “I remember a conversation I had with him where he turned around, he looked at me, and he went, ‘I think I’m going to grow a beard. I’m going to cut my hair off.’ And I was like, ‘What?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m not a rock star anymore.”
Jack didn’t like the idea of his dad growing facial hair or chopping off his signature rock star locks. “I was like, ‘Oh, f--- off.’ He’d look like a hipster from Brooklyn,” he cracked.

Ozzy was only able to enjoy his retirement for a few weeks. He died on July 22 at age 76, just 17 days after Back to the Beginning. Jack said his father was able to see all of the positive reviews about his final show, where he performed a mix of solo hits and Black Sabbath classics.
“He was so stoked,” Jack said. "I’m like, ‘Dad, all these reviews are amazing.’ And he goes, 'A lot of f---ing good that does me. I’ve retired.'”
Two months before his death, Ozzytold The Guardian it was “time” for him to step away from the rock star lifestyle and focus on his family.
“I lived on the road for 50-odd years,“ he said in May. “It’s time for me to spend some time with my grandkids. I don’t want to die in a hotel room somewhere. I want to spend the rest of my life with my family.”
