Many Medicare recipients are sticking with their existing plans despite significant changes this year, according to a poll by the non-profit Patient Access Network. The poll revealed that half of Medicare recipients plan to remain with their current Medicare plan.
A key area to review is the Part D prescription plan, as medications covered last year may not be covered this year.
“The best tool out there is Medicare Plan Finder and that tool can be found at medicare.gov,” said Amy Niles, chief of the PAN Foundation.
Niles said this tool allows users to input basic information such as address, zip code, and prescription medications to see a range of plan options in their area. You can find the site here.
Along with the Medicare Plan Finder, people can utilize research tools from the PAN Foundation, which you can access here.
People can also get one-on-one assistance through the State Health Insurance Assistance Program by calling 1-800-701-0501.
The PAN Foundation says that listing medications can help ensure the chosen plan covers the necessary prescriptions.
