MLB legend Darryl Strawberry, 63, is sharing an optimistic update on wife Tracy Strawberry’s health and thanking fans for their prayers after Tracy underwent surgery to treat early-stage cancer. The former NY Yankees and NY Mets superstar and four-time World Series champion, who also played for the LA Dodgers and SF Giants, asked for prayers earlier this week after Tracy faced a “setback” following surgery. A day later, Strawberry had positive news.
In a post shared to Instagram, the iconic outfielder shared a selfie of himself sitting bedside with Tracy as she recovers from surgery in the hospital. With a beaming smile, the eight-time All-Star hovers over his wife of 19 years. The former baseball star, who now works alongside Tracy in a Christian ministry, wrote:
“Tomorrow Is A New Day” FAITH ✝️
This afternoon brought a setback for my wife after so many wonderful good moments following her surgery on Monday. But I sat by her bedside, laid my hands on her, and prayed in the Spirit, trusting God to bring peace and healing. She fell asleep peacefully and woke up feeling much better. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has prayed for her and me during this challenging time. Your support means the world to us! ??.”

In the photo, Tracy’s bedside table is adorned with a tray full of fries and onion rings. Strawberry didn’t let the fried food fest go unnoticed, writing, “As you can see, I’m a little bit hungry tonight.”

Strawberry first revealed that Tracy had been diagnosed with cancer in a July 25 Instagram post in which he wrote a lengthy tribute to his beloved wife.

In this challenging season, your strength shines brighter than ever. As you prepare for major surgeries to battle Early Stage Cancer ♋️ and face a Hip replacement at the end of this year. I’m not surprised; You taught me how to be faithful with God in the most difficult times!
