Versatile swimmer Carson Day has verbally committed to swim for the Boston University men’s team beginning in the fall of 2026. Day currently attends Providence Senior High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, and trains with SwimMAC Carolina.

Day’s strengths lie in sprint freestyle, butterfly, and the 200 IM. At the 2025 NCHSAA 4A State Championship (SCY) in February, he was a finalist in the 200 IM, placing 5th with a personal best time of 1:51.73. He also contributed to his team’s 4th-place finishes in both the 200 and 400 free relays, leading off with splits of 21.54 and 48.15, respectively.
Later that month, at the North Carolina Senior Championships (SCY), Day finished as the runner-up in the 100 free (45.69), placed 4th in the 200 free (1:39.80), and took 17th in the 50 free (21.46). All three times remain his lifetime bests. His performances in the 100 and 200 free also qualified him for the 2025 Futures Championships in Madison. Additionally, Day placed 9th in the 200 IM (1:52.43), 14th in the 100 IM (53.08), and 18th in the 200 fly (1:51.47).
Day earned his best time in the 200 fly at the 2024 VA SRVA SwimRVA Shamrock Showdown (SCY) in December, winning the event with a time of 1:49.27. He also advanced to the finals in four other races, placing 4th in the 200 free (1:40.34), 7th in the 100 fly (51.56), 10th in the 200 IM (1:53.93), and 20th in the 100 free (48.07).
At the 2023 NC SwimMAC November Invitational (SCY), Day recorded his personal best time of 50.06 in the 100 fly, placing 7th.
At the 2025 Junior National Championships in August, Day had a strong long course showing, placing 30th with a PB in the 200 free (1:52.75) and leading off SwimMAC’s 400 free relay in a new 100 free lifetime best of 51.82. He also contributed to two more top-10 relay finishes, the 400 medley relay (2nd) and the 800 free relay (5th), notably anchoring SwimMAC with a blistering 1:50.43 split in the latter.

Day has the potential to be a major asset for the Terriers with his strengths in sprint freestyle, butterfly, and the 200 IM.
His current best in the 200 free would have ranked 2nd on the team last season, while his 100 free time would have been the 4th fastest, making him a likely asset for Boston’s relays. The top 100 fly time last season was 49.08, held by sophomore David Kohan, while freshman Diego Rosario led the team in the 200 fly (1:47.71). Day’s 200 IM time would have also ranked 2nd on the roster, just behind sophomore Evan Liu’s 1:50.37.
Day will join fellow recruit Patrick Curran on Boston’s campus next fall. Curran also brings a competitive time in the 100 free (45.46).
