Haas boss Ayao Komatsu had every reason to smile under the sweltering Singapore floodlights, as Oliver Bearman turned precision into points with a well-earned ninth-place finish at Marina Bay – a result Komatsu hailed as a showcase of the American team’s growing efficiency and grit.
Bearman’s ninth-place start became a P9 finish after 62 laps of pressure and discipline, marking another valuable addition to Haas’s modest 2025 points tally.
The Briton once again demonstrated sharp qualifying pace, reaching Q3 for the third time this season while the Haas pit wall kept its cool in a race that punished even minor mistakes.
Komatsu was quick to underscore just how fine the margins were all weekend.
“Everybody is so close together, if you look at qualifying, we are P9 but four-hundredths off Hadjar in P8 and then two-tenths off the fastest Ferrari,” he told RacingNews365.
“If you look at who we are and who Ferrari is, that is something we should be proud of.
“In terms of getting maximum out of how we are set up with organisation, size and everything, if you look at the qualifying result, we got maximum out of it.”
Confidence and Consistency Return
While Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso – who qualified just behind Bearman – had the edge in race pace, Komatsu said Haas executed with precision and purpose from lights out to flag.
“In the race, Aston Martin was quick. They had a slow stop, when Fernando [Alonso] came out, he was behind us. If we could go through the traffic slightly better, we had a chance to beat Alonso,” he explained.
“But if you look at his pace, he was quick. So you have to give that to him. But we raced really well, execution was good.”
For Komatsu, the Singapore performance represented more than just two championship points – it was the culmination of methodical improvement after a patchy midseason stretch.
“That’s a big positive this weekend, especially on Ollie’s side,” he added. “We've been talking about putting the weekend together. He's done that, his team has done that.
“We maximised everything, that was really good. That gives us and him a huge confidence to build on from here.”
With Bearman showing increasing maturity and Haas sharpening its race-day craft, Komatsu’s crews look determined to make every remaining Grand Prix count – a mindset that could see the U.S. outfit claw further up the Constructors’ standings before season’s end.
