A Colorado deputy who is the son of a Republican candidate for Colorado governor is charged with drunken driving after rear-ending another vehicle in August, according to the state patrol.
Chase Mikesell, 25, is charged with driving under the influence, driving a vehicle with excessive alcohol content, careless driving and possession of a weapon while under the influence in the Aug. 3 crash, the Colorado State Patrol said in a news release Tuesday night.
All of the charges are misdemeanors or traffic violations, according to court records.wo
Mikesell is listed as a Teller County sheriff’s deputy in Colorado’s peace officer database and was identified as Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell’sson by KOAA.
Jason Mikesell launched his campaign for governor of Colorado in March.
