Jenna Bush Hager revealed a sweet moment with her eldest daughter, Mila, that she said "brought me to tears."
In the Monday, October 6, edition of her Voices at the Table newsletter, Bush Hager, 43, told readers about how she parents in the modern world and shared a photo of Mila's answers to her homework assignment in which she responded to an "I want" prompt.
"My daughter brought me to tears with this school assignment, where she answered the prompt 'I want,'" Bush Hager wrote via her Instagram Stories while promoting the newsletter.
The photo showed that Mila, 12, wrote that she wants "the world to be peaceful and scary stuff to be fake" and that she wants to "meet my mom when she was my age."
After noting that Mila's words "made me teary," Bush Hager looked back on whether or not she worried about "the plight of the world" back when she was her daughter's age.

"I realized that sometimes I find the most comfort in the beauty and innocence of my children," the Today co-anchor wrote. "All I have to do is read their assignments, cuddle with them at night, pay attention to the creative and loving things they say — and then I feel like our world is filled with such profound and sparkly hope."
Bush Hager continued, "As I watch them sleep, I feel our world is a beautiful beach, filled with sea glass in colors we have never found before."
In addition to Mila, Bush Hager shares daughter Poppy, 10, and son Hal, 7, with her husband, Henry Hager.
Back in January, Bush Hager opened up even more about parenting during an exclusive interview with Parade. After she shared that Mila is "a sweet tween,” the mother of three revealed the piece of advice she received from Saturday Night Live alum Molly Shannon about raising teenagers.
“If you just think and say like, ‘Gosh, you’re so sweet. Look at how empathetic you are, look how amazing you are,'” Bush Hager said. “Sure, they’re going to every once in a while show their tween or teen self, but really, it’s like that loving kid that was in her still there. And there’s, you know, some changes and she’s the sweetest, kindest, [most] empathetic girl. And I’m so proud of her.”
Bush Hager was then asked if she believes that her approach to parenting has played a role in the way her kids treat others, and she jokingly said she “better have had a role.”
“Parenting was hard last night. Henry’s like, ‘Wow, parenting is really hard,'” the former first daughter said. “And it is. But yeah, of course. I hope that the way Henry and I treat people is rubbed off, you know? And she witnesses that, but she’s a good kid. All of them are. They’re all wild, too, but they’re good.”
