Rosie O'Donnell revealed that she made a major life decision after moving to Ireland in the wake of President Donald Trump threatening to revoke her U.S. citizenship.
On Monday, Oct. 6, the former The View co-host, 63, told The Telegraph that she was in the process of becoming a citizen of Ireland.

"I am applying and about to be approved for my Irish citizenship as my grandparents were from there and that’s all you need," the former Rosie O'Donnell Show host shared. "It will be good to have my Irish citizenship, especially since Trump keeps threatening to take away mine."
The A League of Their Own actress moved to Ireland in January, shortly after Trump won the 2024 presidential election. She announced the news via TikTok in March.
In response to O'Donnell seeking Irish citizenship, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital, "What great news for America!"

“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship," he wrote on the social media platform. "She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
The next day, O'Donnell took to Instagram to issue a bold takedown of Trump alongside a photo of him and the disgraced, late Jeffrey Epstein.
“You call me a threat to humanity—but I’m everything you fear: a loud woman a queer woman a mother who tells the truth an American who got out of the country b4 u set it ablaze,” O'Donnell continued. “You build walls—I build a life for my autistic kid in a country where decency still exists. You are everything that is wrong with America—and I’m everything you hate about what’s still right with it.”

To wrap up her lengthy clap-back, she made a reference to a Game of Thrones villain.
“You want to revoke my citizenship?" she wrote. "Go ahead and try, King Joffrey with a tangerine spray tan. I’m not yours to silence I never was ?? Rosie.”
In September, Trump doubled down on his message, writing on Truth Social, "As previously mentioned, we are giving serious thought to taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s Citizenship. She is not a Great American and is, in my opinion, incapable of being so!"
As O'Donnell pointed out in a Substack response, however, it's against the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
"He can't do that because it's against the Constitution, and even the Supreme Court has not given him the right to do that," she wrote, per the New York Post. "He's not allowed to do that, the only way you're allowed to take away someone's citizenship is if they renounce it themselves, and I will never renounce my American citizenship."
