In the clip, Bryan sang, "Didn’t wake up, dead or in jail / Some out of town boys been given a cell / I’ve got some bad news, woke up missing you / My friends are all degenerates but they’re all I got."
He continued, “The generational story of dropping the plot / I heard the cops came, cocky motherf---ers ain’t they? / And ICE is gonna come bust down your door / Try to build a house, no bills no more, well I got a telephone / Kids are all scared and all alone."
Although Bryan disabled the comments on his Instagram post, folks went elsewhere on social media to share their reactions.

On X, one critic shared, "Buh bye ? Zach Bryan. Bryan has now lost most of his audience. Go woke, you go broke."
Another X user declared, "Zach Bryan just put out a very un American anti-ice song effectively ending his country music career," as a third X user echoed, "I got some 'Bad News' for Zach Bryan. He just tanked his own country music career."
Someone else agreed, writing on X, "Just caught Zach Bryan’s 'Bad News' teaser—that ICE line? Eye roll. I expect more from a Navy vet! I’d expect you to back the agents securing our borders, not trash them. Stay in your lane with the ballads. Disappointing. Who’s agreeing? ??."
A fellow country music singer, John Rich of the duo Big & Rich, also skewered Bryan on X, writing, "Who's ready for the Zach Bryan-Dixie Chicks tour? Prob a huge Bud Light sponsorship for this one."
His post was a reference to The Chicks (formerly The Dixie Chicks) getting canceled after speaking out against former President George W. Bush and the Bud Light boycott after the brand partnered with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

On Reddit, one user praised Bryan's message, pointing out, "I am just glad there are finally musicians taking a stance instead of being quiet because they might hurt their brand or whatever. It's been a while since we have had that in music period."
A different Redditor shared, "I love country bros coming out against Trump! ❤️."
Someone else on Reddit shared, "'The fading of the red, white, and blue…’ That hits hard."
Meanwhile, yet another Reddit user commented, "All I know about this man is that he’s a country singer and I was bracing myself. Pleasantly surprised it’s a protest song."
Regardless of which political party fans and critics of Bryan's message in "Bad News" were from, many were surprised by his take. In February, Bryan was photographed meeting President Donald Trump at Super Bowl LIX. He even briefly posted and deleted a snap with the POTUS on his Instagram Stories.
