TEMPE — Arizona Cardinals tight end Tip Reiman is done for the season due to the ankle injury he suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Tennessee Titans, head coach Jonathan Gannon said on Monday.
Reiman went down late in the third quarter after the Cardinals had just watched quarterback Kyler Murray head to the locker room with a foot injury.
The tight end tried to reel in a pass from backup Jacoby Brissett but was hit by a Tennessee player and couldn’t come up with the catch.
Reiman stayed on the ground after the collision in visible pain. The entire Cardinals sideline surrounded him as he was helped onto a cart and sent to the locker room.
The tight end was immediately ruled out for the rest of the game.

“It was definitely tough. … I got pretty emotional with him,” tight end Elijah Higgins said Monday. “I tried to be as close as I could during the moment just to let him know I was there. Tip’s … the guy that does everything right. He works his ass off in the weight room, works his ass off on the field.
“I was reflecting on it last night. It was a similar situation with (running back James Conner). Like you have a guy that does everything right, works his ass off and sometimes things just don’t go the right way. … I think there’s always a lesson behind it and it’s a learning moment for not only those guys, but for players to not take anything for granted.”
Reiman has been a key blocking component for the Cardinals offense since coming to town last season as a third-round pick out of Illinois.
Across four games (three starts), he caught three passes (five targets) for 18 yards and logged 98 offensive snaps (37% of available reps).
Now with Arizona’s primary blocking tight end sidelined, the attention turns to Higgins and Travis Vokolek to take on a bigger role offensively.
Arizona also has Josiah Deguara on the practice squad for added depth.
“I want to carry the torch of what he represents for the offense, being a physical guy, being a mauler and doing everything right,” Higgins said. “Hopefully I can attest to that and continue to improve upon my game in that way.”
