Zelda Williams has some choice words for fans who send her AI-generated videos of her late father, actor Robin Williams.
On Instagram Monday, Oct. 6, the actress and director shared a statement condemning the "gross" recreations of her father, who died in 2014.
"Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I'll understand, I don't and I won't," she began. "If you're just trying to troll me, I've seen way worse, I'll restrict and move on. But please, if you've got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, andbelieve me, it's NOT what he'd want."
"To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks andsounds like them so that's enough,' just so other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening," she continued. "You're not making art, you're making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else's throat hoping they'll give you a little thumbs up and like it.
Zelda concluded, "And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it 'the future'. AI is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume."

This is not the first time Zelda has spoken out against AI recreations of her late father. In 2023 during the SAG-AFTRA strike, she wrote on Instagram she found it “disturbing” how people have already used artificial intelligence to replicate her dad's voice.
"I am not an impartial voice in the SAG’s fight against AI. I’ve witnessed for YEARS how many people want to train these models to create/recreate actors who cannot consent, like Dad.” she said at the time.
Before his death, the actor was famously protective of the use of his voice work, and publicly feuded with Disney after they broke an agreement not to use his name or voice for the marketing of Aladdin — where he played the Genie — and its merchandise.
“Not only did they use my voice, they took a character I did and overdubbed it to sell stuff. That was the one thing I said: ‘I don’t do that.’ That was the one thing where they crossed the line.” he told The Los Angeles Times in 1993.
Williams died by suicide at the age of 63 following a battle with Lewy body dementia.
