ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Yellow Alert is up for Tuesday for the potential for heavy rain. You may be thinking, “but we need the rain!” We do, but it may be a little problematic at times, especially Tuesday afternoon. It has been so dry that the ground is very hard. This will make it more difficult for the rain that we do get to soak into the ground, thus resulting in more runoff. This may lead to some poor drainage flooding in those typical low lying areas. Leaves have begun to fall, so some storm drains may also become clogged, leading to some flooding. If your child has any outdoor games after school tomorrow, plan for wet weather! Most areas will see about a half inch to as much as an inch and a half of rain. So again, this is a very needed rainfall, it may just be problematic at times.
Rain tapers Tuesday night, as a cold front clears the area and high pressure builds back in. This high will put an end to our rain, the cold front puts an end to our warmth. Highs on Wednesday will fall back into the upper 50s to near 60 with a brisk breeze under a mix of clouds and sun. Thursday will likely be the coolest day, with highs in the 50s but an abundance of sun. That clear sky and cool air will likely lead to some widespread frost early Friday morning.
At this point, weekend looks nice, with more seasonable temperatures and fair weather. It should be another great weekend to get out and enjoy the fall colors that are now emerging quickly!
