Outlander: Blood of My Blood Finale Preview: 7 Big Questions We Need Answered

After nine episodes, Outlander: Blood of My Blood has woven together two sweeping love stories across centuries. Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie’s (Harriet Slater) forbidden romance in the 18th-century Highlands and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Moriston’s (Hermione Corfield) war-torn bond formed in WWI England have been tested by clan politics, scandal, and heartbreak. Along the way, the prequel to the hit STARZ series has been full of purity tests, secret weddings, betrayal, and even signs of rebellion on the horizon. Now, with the Season 1 finale just ahead, both couples face their greatest trials yet, and heartbreak, sacrifice, and shocking twists are almost guaranteed. Here are 7 burning questions we hope to have answered in the Outlander: Blood of My Blood season finale that airs on Starz on Friday, Oct. 10.

At the end of Episode 9, “Braemar,” Brian barely survives an attack by the gallowglass during the tynchal, saved only by Murtagh (Rory Alexander). But who ordered the hit? Colum (Seamus McLean Ross) promised Ellen he’d “take care of Brian,” likely to keep her from ruining her arranged marriage, but also swore not to harm him after she threatened to withhold support to Grant. Simon Fraser (Tony Curran), who disowned and beat Brian in a rage, is another strong suspect. Still, could a third party be lurking behind the plot?

Where is Brian now? And is he finally on better terms with Murtagh?

After the assassination attempt, Brian and Murtagh ride off together, but their destination is unclear. With Castle Leathers out of the question, given Brian’s rift with his father, where could they go? And what of their strained relationship? Saving Brian’s life may be the first step toward healing Murtagh’s heartbreak over Ellen, but can one heroic act truly mend their friendship?

What will Uncle Mac's role be in Clan Grant?

Malcolm MacKinnon Grant (Simon Merrells) arrived late in the season, which feels far too deliberate to be a coincidence. Is he quietly maneuvering to take over as laird, or simply looking to steer his nephew Malcolm (Jhon Lumsden) in a particular direction? Either way, given his treatment of Ellen, Uncle Mac is unlikely to be good news for either couple at the heart of the story.

    Does Seema betray Henry (again)?

Seema (Lauren McQueen) already outed Henry once in Episode 7, "Luceo Non Uro," and was caught eavesdropping on his plans with Julia in Episode 9. Will she snitch again, or could her feelings for Henry, and witnessing his devotion to Julia, finally push her to switch sides?

Julia’s plan to meet Henry at Leathers feels flimsy at best. When Julia says to Henry in Episode 9, "Meet me at Leathers. I'll leave a mark for you by the tree near the broken wall," it doesn't exactly seem like the most well-thought-out plan. Between Simon, his watchful enforcer Balloch (Chick Allan), and the ever-suspicious Mr. Bug (Terence Rae), how can the couple slip away unnoticed, especially when Henry’s already tried to escape once before?

    Does Ellen actually marry Malcolm?

After Episode 9, Ellen’s marriage to Malcolm seems inevitable. Dougal (Sam Retford) exposed her relationship with Brian, Colum forced her hand, and she broke the heart of the man she truly loves. Yet we know Ellen and Brian end up together eventually. So will Outlander: Blood of My Blood stage the wedding and let Brian linger in the shadows, or is there still another twist to keep Ellen from saying “I do”?

Will we meet Uncle Lamb and a young Claire?

According to a July story inEW, series showrunner Matthew B. Roberts revealed during a San Diego Comic Con 2025 Blood of My Blood panel that viewers may get to meet two important characters in Season 1. "Are we going to meet Uncle Lambert?" a fan asked during the Q&A section of the panel.

"Yes," Roberts replied. "That's a great question with a one-word answer." When Roberts was asked about seeing a young Claire, he glibly responded, "Maybe."Uncle Lambert, lovingly referred to in the Outlander books as Uncle Lamb, is Henry's brother and the one who raises Claire after her parents "die" in a car crash in Scotland. So far, Uncle Lamb hasn't made an appearance in Season 1 of Blood of My Blood, so it makes sense we'll see him in some capacity in the season finale.
