Years later, Seymour, now 74, celebrated the film's anniversary at the place where the movie was filmed: Grand Hotel in Mackinac Island, Michigan, and the video she shared on social media of herself from the festival over the weekend makes it seem like no time has passed at all.
In the same iconic, flowy white dress that Seymour famously donned in the movie while playing Elise McKenna, the actress posed at the hotel while describing her weekend as "magical."
"This has been the most amazing Somewhere in Time weekend," she says in the video. "I don't know how many people are here — it feels like thousands."
She added, "It's also been really special, not just for the people who have been here many times, but for people who have never seen the movie before, the new generations. And of course, my granddaughters, Luna and Willa, who came and were part of it and just loved it."
In the comments on Seymour's Instagram post, not only did fans describe her as "timeless," but many also took the opportunity to share just how much the movie has meant to them.
"I used the Somewhere in Time music to walk down the aisle 20 years ago. I saw the movie as a child and fell in love with the soundtrack," one fan wrote. "To this day, that’s my favorite one unchangeable thing about my wedding."
Somewhere in Time is Celebrated With a Festival Each Year
Each October, the Grand Hotel celebrates Somewhere in Time with a weekend festival. The tradition dates back to 1990, making this year's celebration the 35th annual event.
It sounds like this year's festivities were pretty exciting, according to the Detroit Free Press. Not only was Seymour in attendance, but the hotel also offered movie screenings, themed parties and receptions, and even a walking tour of the filming locations from the movie, which sounds like a dream come true for any fan.
