Country Star Forced to Cancel Concert Due to Safety Issues

Koe Wetzel was forced to bow out of his concert in Maryland as part of the Country Calling Festival at Ocean City Inlet Beach over the weekend, but not out of his own decision-making. After trying to find a way to continue with the scheduled show, he informed fans that he had ultimately run out of options to move forward with his set.

The country star cited “Aircraft Issues” as the reason for his cancellation and took to his Instagram Stories, as well as his Facebook page, to share the unfortunate and unexpected news with his fanbase.

“What’s up, y’all. I hate to do this, but we won’t be able to make it to Maryland for our set tonight at Country Calling due to a safety issue with our aircraft,” the multi-platinum country outlaw wrote in a message to followers on Sunday, Oct. 5.

“We tried to find a way, and unfortunately, we are out of options,” he continued, adding, “We’re super bummed and hope we can make it up to y’all soon. Thanks for understanding. Much love, Koe."

It is unclear what kind of aircraft Wetzel was supposed to be on ahead of his show or where he was flying out of, but those who saw the post took to the comments section to share their support for the “High Road” hitmaker, telling him that he should be safe rather than sorry.

“Glad you’re safe, Koe. That’s all that matters,” one person commented below the Texas-born singer/songwriter’s Facebook update.

Another follower added, “Better to be safe than sorry! Don’t know what we would do if we ever had to go without music from Koe. Good choice!”

“Bummed we can’t see you tonight, but safety first!” A third person chimed in. “Thanks for being safe and addressing us sooner rather than later.”

Koe Wetzel Previously Raised Money for Flood Victims in Texas

Wetzel’s canceled show in Maryland comes exactly two months after the 33-year-old artist hosted a concert to raise money for Texas flood victims.

Dubbed “Stronger Together,” and sponsored by Raising Cane’s, Outlaw Beer, and Rock & Roll Denim, that performance—which featured a string of acts, including Kolby Cooper, Casey Donahew, Ray Wylie and Lucas Hubbard, Pecos Hurley of Pecos & The Rooftops, Mike Ryan, Shane Smith of Shane Smith & The Saints, and Dylan Wheeler—took place at the The Pavillion At Toyota Music Factory in Irving, TX, and benefited the Kerr Country Flood Relief Fund via Wetzel’s foundation, Koe’s Kids.

“Texas is home – these floods hit our neighbors hard and they need our help,” Wetzel previously shared of the cause in a press release. “Music has a way of bringing people together, and I’m grateful to my friends who immediately raised their hands to help when we called. This benefit concert is our way of standing with the people of Texas and doing whatever we can to make a difference as our great state rebuilds.”

The Country Calling Festival Was a Three-Day Event

The Country Calling Festival took place over the course of three days from Oct. 3 through Oct. 5, with Wetzel’s performance scheduled on the final day of the weekend-long event.

Headliners for Country Calling Festival 2025 included Brooks & Dunn, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Luke Combs. Other artists on the bill included Gavin Adcock, Jon Pardi, Jordan Davis, Wynonna Judd, Chase Rice, LeAnn Rimes, Gabby Barrett, Stephen Wilson Jr., and Margo Price, among many more.

Wetzel currently has a list of festival shows scheduled throughout the year, with his next one taking place on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Redwest 2025 in Salt Lake City, Utah. For a full listing of Wetzel’s tour dates, fans can go to his official website, here.
