Following the first quarter, ESPN aired an interview with a student discussing their experience watching UNC football under first-year head coach Bill Belichick.
“TCU was… I went to that game and that was one of the saddest feelings I’ve had at university so far,” the student said. “And I’ve failed midterms before, so that’s saying something.”

TCU scored the game’s next 41 points to turn Belichick’s debut into a splattering. TCU outgained UNC 542-222 that day and walked out of Chapel Hill with a 48-14 win.
The Tar Heels responded with consecutive wins over Charlotte and Richmond, but the positive momentum vanished in Orlando on Sept. 20 when UCF beat UNC 34-9.
Saturday’s game against Clemson didn’t have anywhere near the same hype as the opener against TCU, but it was a disaster all the same. Clemson had a 35-3 lead at the halftime break.
