New details have emerged revolving around the case of former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy, who was charged with negligent homicide, hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle which allegedly contributed to a crash that killed a 78-year-old man in Thibodaux, Louisiana in December 2024.
Lacy’s lawyer, Matt Ory, interviewed with HTV10 in Louisiana this week armed with video evidence denying Lacy’s involvement. The original claim was that Lacy drove at considerable speed and caused the wreck in question, then fled the scene afterwards. The footage doesn’t line up with this accusation, however – it shows Lacy several yards behind, independent of the wreck. Lacy’s green vehicle can be seen coming into frame a few seconds after the crash takes place in the video.
Here’s part of what Ory said in the interview:
“We know from data that Kyren Lacy did in fact pass 4 cars, there’s no disputing that,” Ory said. “Further north Kyren Lacy passed 4 cars. However, he was back in his lane of travel 92.3 yards back in his lane behind Mr. Hall. At the time of impact, he’s 72.6 yards behind the vehicles at the time of impact. Key word: behind the vehicles. That is not how this story was painted. Never.”
