Carolina took a 1-0 lead thanks to a 39th-minute goal from Olivia Thomas and carried that advantage into the second half, but the Eagles equalized in the 68th minute on just their second shot on target of the night.
The score stayed tied into the final 10 minutes, when Faasse saved the day with a rocket of a tiebreaking goal.

Faasse was back at it less than three minutes later, heading in her second goal of the night from point blank range. Thomas provided the assist. For Faasse, the raining national player of the year, the two goals were her first in a span of five matches stretching back to September 4. Thomas’ first-half goal was her 10th of the season, which outpaces Faasse’s seven for the team lead.
UNC outshot Boston College 19-8 overall and held a 6-2 edge in shots on target. Carolina held the Eagles without a shot of any kind after Faasse’s second goal in the 84th minute.
The win improves the Tar Heels to 8-4 overall on the season, 6-1 at Dorrance Field and 2-2 in ACC play. UNC will stay at home during the weekend when it hosts Pitt Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
