Georgia freshman wide receiver Talyn Taylor will miss the Bulldogs’ upcoming game against Kentucky after suffering an upper-body injury in practice on Thursday.
The school announced the news Thursday evening. It provided no definitive timetable for Taylor’s return, adding that the injury requires surgery. Taylor is expected to make a full recovery. In a post to his story on Instagram, Taylor wrote, “God got me.”
Taylor appeared in each of Georgia’s first 4 games this season. Taylor has drawn 4 targets this season, making 2 receptions for 28 yards. He played only 2 offensive snaps in Week 5, but he had a critical drop in the 24-21 loss to Alabama.
Following that disappointing moment, Georgia coach Kirby Smart picked up the young receiver during his Monday press conference.
“Talyn’s deal was tough, but Talyn will grow from it,” Smart said. “He’s a tough, competitive kid. He practices his butt off. Every time we’ve called his number, he’s answered it. He’s going to continue to do that.”
A 6-foot, 190-pound wideout from Geneva, Illinois, Taylor was a massive piece of the Bulldogs’ 2025 recruiting class. In the 247 Composite, Taylor was a 5-star prospect and the fourth-ranked wideout in the class.
With Taylor appearing in just 4 games, he can save the season with a redshirt and maintain 4 years of eligibility.
