Monroe County sheriff’s deputies say Mair failed field sobriety tests and later blew a 0.2% BAC, which is twice over the legal limit.
News10NBC spoke to the prosecutor on the case after Mair’s court appearance.
“Driving while intoxicated with children happens for a variety of reasons. But obviously the law takes it more seriously, it’s a felony offense, it becomes a felony offense because there are children and obviously we take that seriously as well,” said Merrick Sadler, chief of vehicular crimes at the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
Mair was put on administrative leave on Sept. 11. He was released without bail Thursday and is due back in court in December.
