Julia Roberts opened up about being an "empty nester" in rare comments about her three kids.
While appearing on the Wednesday, October 1, episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Roberts, 57, discussed her home life after all three of her and husband Daniel Moder's kids moved out of the house. "I don't know if sobbing now is the best jumping off point to our interview," she jokingly said when the subject was brought up.
Despite admitting she was sad about her kids moving out, Roberts insisted that being an "empty nester" will never stop her from being close with her children.
"It's all fun, honestly," she said. "It's also delicious. My kids — I know everyone thinks their kids are great, well … I think my kids are great."
The Pretty Woman actress continued, "I love hanging out with them and spending time with them. Fortunately, we have had lots of visits along the way of this empty nest."
Roberts and Moder, 56, are the proud parents to 20-year-old twins Hazel Patricia and Phinnaeus Walter, as well as 18-year-old son Henry Daniel.
The mom of three has been sure to keep her kids' lives out of the spotlight, though she did previously reflect on Henry being her last child at home during a December 2023 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

"I think it's a good 50/50 split. He's loving it," she said while reflecting on what it was like to have the twins away at college. "And I think he misses his people."
She also added at the time that all three of her kids were doing "great."
More recently, Roberts gave a glimpse into her parenting style while speaking to 72 Magazine in September. After noting that she used to consider herself and her husband "stricter parents" when their kids were younger, Roberts said that she has a few unwavering rules when it comes to her children.
“Not like we’re laying down the law, but these are the rules, and they don’t change. Here’s the boundary of your life, and it does not shift," she said. "You don’t ask me and get an answer, and then go ask dad and get a different answer. That doesn’t happen. It will never happen.”
