Anyone who can appreciate the musical complexity of Dire Straits and groove to the smooth sounds of Kenny Loggins would have been ecstatic about the upcoming Sunset Fest Cabo, scheduled to take place in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The show, billed as the "Woodstock of Yacht Rock" by Joe Puerta, frontman of Ambrosia, was meant to be a luxury three-day event.
However, a majority of the artists, including Ambrosia and Kenny Loggins, have officially dropped out.

Puerta shared a message from the band stating, “We are deeply saddened at the sudden turn of events that has forced us into this decision,” clarifying that the choice had nothing to do with health concerns.
Headliner Alan Parsons announced on October 1 that his band would no longer participate, releasing an official statement on social media: “Due to circumstances outside of Alan Parsons Live Project’s control, their performance at Sunset Fest Cabo scheduled for October 25, 2025 will no longer be taking place. For any ticket refund inquiries, please contact your point of purchase.”

Both Kenny Loggins and Christopher Cross shared the same statement on their socials.
Rick Springfield, slated as Friday’s headliner, has yet to comment on whether he still intends to perform.
Although the event is scheduled to begin on October 24, festival organizers have not updated social media or the website with information about cancellation. Tickets are no longer available for purchase online.

A Festival Conspiracy Theory
While no official explanation has come from the festival’s coordinators, internet sleuths are speculating. Fans point to “Liz the Music Manager,” a music industry executive who recently shared a video that many believe quietly “spilled the tea” on what went wrong.

♬ original sound - Liz The Music ManagerIn her video, Liz referenced a Cabo-based festival set for three weeks away with all the mentioned artists, and noted that “the math simply didn’t math.” Tickets reportedly ranged from $300 to $700 with a capacity of roughly 1,000 people. Even at full capacity with top pricing, she calculated the budget wouldn’t cover artist guarantees, flights, per diems, and staffing costs.
“I did the math quickly and I already negative $100,000,” she said.
Fans responded with frustration but little surprise.
“Great lineup. It seems a shame. I wish they thought it through,” wrote one of Liz’s followers.
“Too many people think they can profit without planning… If it was easy, everyone would do it,” another warned.
Whether Sunset Fest Cabo is officially canceled remains to be seen, but for now, fans are left disappointed — and with more questions than answers.
