Hugely iconic car is disappearing from UK dealerships in just WEEKS… after being on sale for over 20 years

AN iconic sports car is coming to the end of its production run – with orders to cease by the end of the year.

BMW is preparing to discontinue the Z4 roadster in the UK market with global production stopping in 2026.

The Z4, a long time favourite among drivers looking for a lightweight, two-seater convertible, has already been removed from the BMW website.

And according to Auto Express, UK deliveries are winding down with only a limited number of orders still being accepted, with prices starting around £43,000.

The discontinuation of the Z4 is part of a broader trend affecting petrol-powered sports cars.

Other models, such as the Porsche Boxster, Cayman, Audi TT, Toyota Supra and GR86 have all been pulled from UK markets recently.

This leaves few affordable petrol sports cars under £100k left, with only the Mazda MX-5, Alpine A110, Ford Mustang Convertible and Lotus Emira suitable offerings.

Even these models are facing uncertainty – with Alpine confirming the A110 will depart in February 2026.

The Z4 was first sold in the UK back in 2003 with the E85 generation, replacing the Z3, and featured roadster and coupe variants.

The second generation, which arrived in 2009, transitioned to a folding hard-top roadster design.

The current generation, launched in 2018, returned to a soft-top design and shared its mechanics with the Toyota Supra.

Although Toyota has hinted at a future Supra, it will not involve BMW collaboration and BMW has made no announcements regarding a Z4 successor.

BMW will also be discontinuing the 8-Series Gran Coupe by mid-2026, marking the end of a model that is rooted in the iconic 1990s E31 generation.

To celebrate its legacy, BMW is releasing the limited Edition M Heritage model, featuring retro-inspired colours, luxurious interiors and a powerful twin-turbo V8 engine.

    Sadly, no successor is planned.

Elsewhere, Ford have punched STOP on the assembly line of the Focus ST for the very last time – after over two decades.

The final example of the iconic, sporty model rolled off the line on Friday, September 26, at Ford‘s Saarlouis plant in Germany, marking the end of an era.

The end of the beloved hot hatch marks a significant shift in Ford’s approach to motors in Europe, with the Blue Oval phasing out its traditional line of hatchback models for financial reasons.
