The ever bullish Shedeur Sanders has finally lost his voice.
After a 1-3 start to the season, the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday announced a changing of the guard at quarterback, benching Joe Flacco for rookie Dillon Gabriel.
Many fans assumed that decision would also see Sanders promoted from third string to backup, with Flacco taking a backseat in the new era.
But that isn’t the case.
Sanders, a once-projected top NFL Draft pick who fell through five rounds before the Browns took him off the board, remains buried on the depth chart behind Gabriel and Flacco.
He has been criticised in recent weeks, notably by ESPN’s Rex Ryan, for the way he has spoken about his role in Cleveland.
It is perhaps because of that backlash, that Sanders has decided to fall silent.
When asked about the Browns’ quarterback situation, following the news of Flacco’s benching, the 23-year-old offered no words.
Instead, he repeatedly answered questions by smiling, stroking his chin and silently moving his mouth like a mime.
A member of the Browns staff then cut the interviews short.

Shedeur, who is the son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, caused quite a stir with his behavior.
He was soon trending on social media, and it didn’t take long for the videos to get back to his father.

After promoting Gabriel to starting QB, the Browns head to London to play the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5.
