Oklahoma’s 4-0 start to the 2025 season has Sooner fans believing in head coach Brent Venables again, and so are high school recruits.
Per Rivals’ Sam Speigelman, 3-star wide receiver Brayden Allen announced his commitment to play for Oklahoma on Wednesday. The senior prospect decommitted from in-state Tulane earlier this week, and the Lafayette-native now becomes the 20th member of the Sooners’ 2026 class.

— Rivals (@Rivals) October 1, 2025Brayden visited Oklahoma for its matchup with Auburn on Sept. 20, and the intense 24-17 Sooner victory clearly made a strong impression.
The 6-foot-1 recruit had also taken visits to Boston College and Texas Tech over the summer. Brayden’s trip to watch Colorado’s 24-21 defeat at the hands of BYU last Saturday likely did little to sway him towards choosing the Buffaloes.
Brayden becomes the third wide receiver in Oklahoma’s 2026 class, joining 3-star Xavier Okwufulueze from within the state and 4-star Daniel Odom out of California.
The flipped commitment could stem from the Sooners’ improved offensive play, as they are currently averaging 7 more points and gain nearly 100 more yards per game compared to last season. And with 4 targets having racked up over 200 receiving yards this year, Brayden may have been intrigued by how Oklahoma has been able to spread the ball around thus far.
However, with John Mateer sidelined due to a hand injury, it will be up to last season’s part-time starter Michael Hawkins Jr. to keep the passing game humming along.
