For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Sara McNabb from Canada has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Penn State beginning in fall 2026.
“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Penn State University! I’d like to first thank my family, teammates, and coaches for helping me get to this point! A big thanks to Coach Hollie and Ethan, along with all of the other amazing coaching staff at Penn State for this opportunity. I can’t wait to be a Nittany Lion! #WEARE”
McNabb swims for Fredericton Aquanat Swim Team and most recently competed at the Canadian SCM Championships at the beginning of August. She was highlighted by a personal best time of a 4:16.43 in the SCM 400 free, earning her a 4th place finish.
Earlier this summer, she swam at Canadian Trials. She posted a best time 4:25.92 in the LCM 400 free as well as a 57.39 in the 100 free.
McNabb’s Best LCM Times (With SCY Conversions) Are:
100 free: 57.39 (50.26) 200 free: 2:04.29 (1:49.09) 400 free: 4:25.29 (4:57.24)The Penn State women finished 12th out of 14 teams at the 2025 Big Ten Championships under head coach Hollie Bonewit-Cron who arrived after most recently spending time as head coach at Miami-OH. Penn State totaled 260 points while 11th place Rutgers tallied 310 points.
Based on her best converted times, McNabb is not far off what it took to final in numerous events. It took a 49.60 100 free, 1:47.11 200 free, and a 4:46.00 500 free to earn a second swim. The team only had one finalist in each of the three events this past season. She brings relay potential as her 100 free converted time would have been 4th on the roster this past season while her 200 free would have been 3rd.
McNabb will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Hannah Wilson, Kate Fedor, and Gabi Abruzzo.
